CIRA and Soche Technical College Graduate 35 in Construction Management

Blantyre, 30th September 2025 — The Construction Industry Regulatory Authority (CIRA), in partnership with Soche Technical College, has graduated 35 students with certificates in Construction Management during a colourful ceremony held in Blantyre at Palm Valley Lodge.

The training programme, jointly implemented by CIRA and Sochi Technical College, aims to equip construction professionals with essential technical and managerial skills to enhance quality, safety, and efficiency in the construction sector.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony, CIRA Chief Executive Officer Eng. Gerald Khonje commended the graduates for their hard work and commitment, noting that the training complements the Authority’s mandate to promote quality, professionalism and capacity building in the construction industry.

“As we transform the construction industry under the new regulatory framework, we must invest in people. These graduates are the future leaders and innovators who will drive quality and integrity across Malawi’s construction landscape,” said Khonje.

Representative of the Principal of Soche Technical College, Mr. Nkhata also expressed satisfaction with the partnership, highlighting that the collaboration with CIRA has strengthened the college’s ability to deliver industry-relevant training aligned with national standards.

The graduates received certificates after successfully completing a rigorous training programme covering key areas such as construction project management, site supervision, contract administration, health and safety, and sustainable building practices.

President of the graduating class, Justin Namizinga, thanked CIRA and Soche Technical College for the opportunity, saying the training had boosted their confidence and technical expertise to contribute meaningfully to Malawi’s construction sector.
