Chief Executive Officer

Eng. G.T. Khonje is a Registered Professional Engineer and a Mentor (Selected Professional Engineer). He holds an MBA in Management Consultancy from the University of Wales and BSc in Civil Engineering from The Malawi Polytechnic now known as the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS). He also possesses various qualifications in Leadership, Strategic Change Management, Organizational Turnaround and Renewal, Arbitration, Project Management among others.

Eng. G.T. Khonje has extensive knowledge and 25 years’ experience in the construction industry having worked with Contractors, Consultants, Professional Boards/Associations, and National Construction Industry Council in various technical and leadership capacities.

He has championed development and implementation of several policy and regulatory instruments aimed at bringing sanity and professionalism in the construction industry. As Chief Executive Officer, Eng. G.T. Khonje provides the necessary authority, credibility, drive and leadership for the attainment of the mandate and objectives of the Council and position it as the industry leader to competently regulate, promote and develop the construction industry and contribute to the achievement of the Malawi 2063 Vision.

Before becoming Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Khonje was the Regulatory and Enforcement Director (RED) during which time he successfully initiated, coordinated and implemented various interventions aimed at creating an enabling environment for the development and operation of the construction industry in Malawi including: the development of the National Construction Policy and the 2012-2017 Strategic Plan; he was also in the consultancy team that established the training unit within NCIC and was one of its two pioneering Trainers.
