The National Construction Industry Council has urged engineering students to embark on more research to deal with various challenges facing the construction industry and also to enable stakeholders to come up with evidence based decisions for the industry.
The remarks were made by NCIC’s Director of Training and Research, Neema Kadaluka, when she interacted with the graduating class of 2024 from the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) during the class’s symposium held on the 4th of October at Crossroads Hotel in Blantyre.
Kadaluka noted that the challenges facing the industry is an opportunity for researchers to delve into more research and unravel innovativeness. She further indicated that this is why NCIC launched the Construction Industry Research Agenda in 2022 to provide stakeholders with a compendium of research avenues and guidelines to achieve industry innovation and agility.
The graduating class consisted of students from civil, mining, electrical and mechanical engineering.
On his part, Executive Dean of the School of Engineering Eng. Dr. Burnet Mkandawire commended NCIC for partnering with the university in ensuring that it produces students that meet industry needs.
He further noted that pursuit of Malawi Agenda 2063 requires strategic partnerships, values which both institutions hold in high esteem.
