The National Construction Industry Council was established by the National Construction Industry Act of 1996 (Cap. 53:05 of the Laws of Malawi) to regulate, develop and promote the Construction Industry in Malawi. The Council has the mandate to keep and maintain a register for each category of persons engaged in the construction industry. The Council also has the mandate to prescribe and vary categories of registration of persons engaged in the construction industry.
In ensuring that persons engaged in the construction industry are registered and maintained in various categories, the Council is required by the Act to hold Committee and Board meetings at least four times a year. These meetings are aimed at vetting and approving all applications for registration and upgrading that have been received since the previous board meeting.
Stakeholders in the construction industry and members of the general public are hereby informed that the Council holds committee and board meetings once every quarter of the year. These meetings are held in the months of March, June, September, and December.
The Council would further like to notify persons engaged in the construction industry and the general public that applications for registration and upgrading for the June Board Meeting should be submitted by Tuesday, 9th May 2023. This will assure timely processing of applications that are to be considered during the Board meeting. All applications submitted beyond this date will be considered during the subsequent board meeting.
