The CoST Malawi Multi-Stakeholder Group (MSG), on Monday met the CoST Malawi Champion His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi, to update him on the progress on the Information Platform for Public Infrastructure (IPPI Malawi).
This followed the directive which the President gave on 12 July 2022, during the groundbreaking ceremony of the M1 Road Rehabilitation at Mtiti in Dowa, in which the President directed all Ministries, Departments and Agencies that are managing infrastructure projects to upload information of their projects by 31st August this year on the IPPI portal.
The portal allows for the publication of public infrastructure projects and contract information from the tender level to completion of the project and in turn increases citizen engagement in the public construction sector and promotes transparency and accountability of public resources.
President Chakwera commended CoST for the ongoing work and asked the team to always verify that the information uploaded on the portal represents the actual work in the field saying, “digitalization is critical to the achievement of our dream as a nation and we should all work towards that goal.”
During the meeting, CoST Malawi demonstrated to the CoST Champion how the IPPI works and how the public can access the portal via, https://ippi.mw which is open to the general public and all stakeholders to use in order to follow the developments that are taking place in the country.
