Construction industry stakeholders have reiterated the need for stakeholders in the industry to strengthen collaboration in dealing with various challenges facing the industry in order for the industry to achieve transformation, quality and sustainability.
The sentiments were echoed by the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, Eng. David Mzandu during a meeting of Focal Persons on Construction Sector Joint Consultative Group (CSJCG) in Salima on Tuesday 28th of January 2024. He observed that although the industry is making remarkable strides in addressing the challenges in the industry there was a need to move with urgency in dealing with the issues. He further indicated that the sector is pivotal in achieving the ATM Strategy as no meaningful impact in Agriculture, Tourism or Mining can be made without infrastructure.
On his part, Chief Executive Officer for the National Construction Industry Council (NCIC), Eng. Gerald Khonje, expressed gratitude for the commitment displayed by various institutions of the grouping by working on identified issues in the sector.
The CSJCG was established was established in order to provide a platform for stakeholders in the construction sector to identify challenges in the industry and collectively address them in pursuit for Vision 2063 in which Malawi is envisioned to be _inclusively wealth with a people that enjoy safe and resilient infrastructure_.
