In a bid to close the capacity gaps in the management and delivery of construction projects in the country, the National Construction Industry Council (NCIC) in collaboration with the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) have launched a Diploma in Construction Management. The historic event took place at MUBAS ODL Auditorium on the 12th of April.
Speaking during the event, the Chief Executive Officer of NCIC, Eng. Gerald Khonje noted that the rolling out of the Diploma in Construction Management is speaks very well to the Councils’ aspiration for quality infrastructure. He noted that before now, the skills gap between high and lower cadres in the industry is wide making quality control a challenge in the industry. On her part Vice Chancellor of MUBAS, Associate Professor Nancy Chitera expressed her joy with the addition of the new which she said is a demonstration of her institution’s commitment to contribute to the Malawi 2063 through innovation and excellence.
Before the two made their respective remarks, the Executive Dean of the School of Engineering, Engineer Doctor Witness Kuotcha, and Director of Training and Research at NCIC, Mrs. Nema Kadaluka narrated the background to the introduction of the course and expressed their satisfaction with the culmination of the process.
MUBAS further indicated that they will be enrolling the first cohort this same year and invited interested prospective students to get ready.
